About OJ Electrics

Decades of Experience

Owen began as an industrial electrician in 1976 as an apprentice in the waste-water industry. During his training, he learned the importance of doing a job well the first time, by understanding the process and building a system that is tailored to the specific application.

In 1985, Owen started a business as an industrial electrical contractor, using PLCs to automate industrial control systems such as welding robots. He became an authorised Allen Bradley reseller, providing parts and expertise to factories and defence companies. During this time he was contracted to finalise commissioning for an automated trace-extraction gold mine in Thailand. This involved the development of a full electrical instrumentation department, including the employment and training of electrical and IT staff for SCADA for PLC operation.

Owen has gained a wealth of experience in designing end-to-end industrial systems, specialising in PLC, SCADA, and industrial instrumentation. He has developed and taught industrial trade courses at TAFE, teaching PLC, HMI, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation and control processes. Owen now provides his expertise not only in design and commissioning of industrial systems, but in supervision of large-scale projects.
